"Project Encore! Arts & Culture Upcycling" - OPENING RECEPTION

"Project Encore! Arts & Culture Upcycling" - OPENING RECEPTION Nat King Cole Generation Hope Project Encore! Arts & Culture Upcycling is a collaborative effort with Palm Beach State College and Yamaha Corporation of America’s “Yamaha Cares Upcycling Program” to bring together art students and unusable music instruments in a meaningful way. Fine Art students in the ART1203C 3D Design classes at PBSC were given recycled guitars, art supplies and the time and space to create unique assemblage sculptures. Using methods of addition, subtraction and construction, 3D Design students work with their professors, Kristin Miller and Derek Anstis to learn about not only the history of assemblage and the 3D form, but also concepts surrounding narrative and their own personal experience with music.  This exhibit showcases 30 guitar assemblages made by over 50 art students over the last 2 years. Materials used include paint, fabric, concrete, found objects and collage to transform guitars into unique works of art. Graphic Design Professor Rob Silio designed the branding campaign for the exhibit as a final project for his own MFA in Graphic Design through Liberty University. Professor Rob Silio will have an accompanying exhibit, "The Creative Process" which shows the process and role of the graphic designer in showcasing an exhibit. "Project Encore! Arts & Culture Upcycling" exhibit will run from September 19 - October 30 in the HU Gallery on Lake Worth campus. The Opening Reception will be Thursday, Sept. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. Free. Open to the public. From to at Lake Worth campus - Humanities Building.
