Registered Nurse (RN) Information Review The A.S. degree in Nursing focuses on nursing as a caring and humanistic discipline and prepares students to become collaborative, integral members of the ever-changing health care system. This comprehensive program encompasses lectures, hands-on training in labs featuring advanced medical simulation technology and clinical rotations at area hospitals. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to become registered nurses. Registration is required. Mental Health First Aid for Higher Education teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 8-hour training — which focuses on the unique experiences and needs of college students — gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. What It Covers • A discussion of campus culture and its relevance to the topic of mental health. • A discussion of the specific stress and risk factors faced by those in higher education. • Applying the action plan in a number of scenarios designed specifically for students. • A review of the mental health resources available on campus and through partnerships in the community. - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Information Session ReviewLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Information Session Review Licensed practical nurses make a real difference for patients every day in hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, home health agencies and physician offices. Students learn current theories and gain a wide range of clinical experiences in local health care facilities, including in medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology and medication administration, geriatric and long-term care nursing, and obstetrical and pediatric nursing. Applicants must meet the criteria to enroll in this limited-access program, including passing entrance exams. Graduates of this state-approved program are eligible to take the NCLEX-PN state board examination to become licensed practical nurses. Registration for the information session is required.
