Philosophy Club Socratic Meeting

Philosophy Club Socratic Meeting Philosophy Club Socratic Meeting Time Let’s form our own Socrates Cafe and give everyone who wants to participate a chance to ask a question they’ve always wondered about and wanted to discuss. A question that’s been sitting in the back of your mind. It could be anything big or small, like ‘What is a friend?’ or ‘What makes a place a home?’ Once someone shares their question, we can talk about it for a few minutes and see where the conversation goes, ask follow-up questions, and build on each other’s ideas. That’s the beauty of this idea, presented in the inspiration behind this book by Christopher Phillips. It doesn’t have to lead to an answer; it’s more about exploring different perspectives and seeing what comes up. Guided by Socratic dialogue, our meetings provide a space for curiosity, critical inquiry, and open-minded discussion. All perspectives are valued, whether you are well-versed in philosophy or simply exploring new ideas. This is an opportunity to expand your thinking and challenge your assumptions in a collaborative academic setting. Date:  Friday Nov, 14th 2025 Location: CA 106 To prepare, we encourage participants to review the Socratic Discussion PDF available in the document section on the Engage page. These discussions are not debates or about determining right or wrong answers. Instead, they are an opportunity to listen, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversation on complex philosophical topics. From to at Boca Campus CA 106.
